Our team is expanding; we are looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Program Manager to join our team to define the future of compliance functions across our entire portfolio of products. This is an individual contributor role, but there is no limit to the impact and influence you will bear on a wide swath of technical programs.

     

    As a Senior Technical Program Manager for Compliance in the Enterprise Tools, Platforms, and Services team, you will be expected to drive clarity amidst complex challenges and ambiguity, operating with autonomy and urgency. You will work across several initiatives, some with rapid changes in direction, so adaptability and agility are essential. Colleagues and stakeholders will look to you for answers and direction in your area and the initiative to foster collective success. You must facilitate alignment among all stakeholders, adding clarity about the strategic direction and rationale behind each initiative. Last but not least, you will apply your developer chops to use AI tools and coding agents for building solutions relevant to the programs you support.

    Responsibilities

    + Partner with Microsoft wide stakeholders responsible for leading tech industry wide compliance requirements like the US Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity, the European Digital Markets Act (DMA), and the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) to develop a clear vision and strategy, ensure alignment with business goals and establish baseline requirements and processes. Localize these requirements for our portfolio of products.

    + Work in close partnership with teams responsible for defining requirements for fundamentals like privacy, security, reliability, compatibility, inter-operability, accessibility, licensing, globalization/localization and more, to translate these into executable plans.

    + Create key cross-functional technical programs, own end to end execution of the programs while continuously focusing on quality and managing risk.

    + Operate with autonomy to proactively resolve ambiguity to drive clarity and deliver energy.

    + Drive accountability and track progress to deliver on commitments.

    + Assist engineers navigate these requirements and undertake projects that increase the level of overall automation and reduce developer toil by not just leveraging but also building AI tools and agents where appropriate.

    + Define and monitor key performance metrics for each initiative to help guide program priorities and evaluate success.

    + Synthesize key learnings and effectively communicate project status succinctly for updates to senior leadership, translating complex issues into actionable, business-aligned narratives.

    + Contribute to our shared vision of an inclusive team where everyone can be their authentic self and do their best.

    Qualifications

    Required/Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

     

    + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

    + 10+ years experience in software engineering.

    + 6+ years experience in technical program management managing cross-functional and cross-team projects.

    + 4+ years of experience as a software developer.

    + 3+ years of experience driving compliance areas in a software development setting

    + Hands-on experience using AI coding agents like GitHub Copilot or other similar agents.

    Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
