Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Spine Surgery - Plattsburgh, New York
Saratoga Hospital Spine seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider for a full-time position to join a growing Spine Surgery Practice in our Plattsburgh, NY, office located at 16 De Grandpre Way Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
Spine Surgery Advanced Practice Provider's job duties: provide comprehensive patient care, in clinic, including patient assessment, developing treatment plans, first-assisting in complex spinal surgeries (cervical, lumbar), managing pre/post-op care, ordering prescriptions, and educating patients, requiring expertise in spinal anatomy, EMR, and strong collaboration skills. In this role, you will not be assisting in OR.
Core Responsibilities
+ Clinic/Outpatient : Conduct exams, diagnose, manage chronic pain, order tests, interpret results, provide patient education, handle refills, identify appropriateness for conservative care or surgical intervention.
+ Post-Op : Manage post-operative care , write orders, and provide continuity of care.
Key Duties
+ Patient Management: Develop & implement treatment plans, perform physical exams, order & interpret diagnostics ( XR, MRI, CT).
+ Prescribing: Order, prescribe, and dispense medications and conservative therapies.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons in a multidisciplinary team, acting as a liaison between patient and physician.
Requirements & Skills
+ Education: Master's from accredited PA program, national certification (PA-C). Would be open to an NP with orthopedic and/or musculoskeletal surgical experience.
+ Knowledge: Spinal anatomy, surgical procedures, EMR, imaging.
+ Skills: Clinical judgment, detail-orientation, calm under pressure, strong communication, ability to work autonomously under physician supervision.
The APP in this role will s upport our outpatient office practice . Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with other members of the healthcare team. In our practice, you will work with colleagues from across the Spine Surgery group as well as our extended Saratoga Hospital Medical Team.
The hospital offers advanced imaging and laboratory services and more, at ambulatory centers in Saratoga Springs and Malta.
Hours for this position will be: 8:00 - 4:30, Tu esday - Friday . No weekends may be required.
No call required for this position.
The APP serves as an additional patient care provider, augmenting and extending patient services provided by the health care team. APP will work closely with members of the team and have a reasonable amount of autonomy in the care and medical decision-making for patients. A few highlights of responsibilities:
• Obtains, documents and updates medical history. Identifies health risks and needs. Performs physical examinations and conducts preventive screening procedures based on age and history. Formulates a differential diagnosis and plan of care based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings. Identifies needs of the individual, family, or community. • Orders and review diagnostic tests. Identifies, prescribes, and manage pharmacological therapies. • Determines effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of patient care outcomes. • Reassesses and modifies plan of care as necessary to achieve medical and health goals. • Makes referrals to other health professionals and community agencies. • Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery. • Serves on departmental and multidisciplinary committees, which influence or determine policies affecting advanced practice providers. • Participates in and develops projects and quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice. • Maintains current level of knowledge relative to professional practice. • Maintains all required professional documentation, such as license, certifications, infection control, ACLS/BLS, DEA as well as system requirements. • Acts as resource to staff and implements educational programs, as needed.
Qualifications:
A license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State will be required to successfully be credentialed.

Pay Grade: APP Pay Range: $127K - $162K
