Reviews and processes all court commitments for individuals sentenced to serve county or state jail time; operates both the ACSO Court Services desk and the Alternative Sentencing Division front desk; maintains appointment calendars for the Alternative Sentencing Case Managers; processes payments for Alternative Sentencing and court costs/fees; generates affidavits for non-compliance of individuals who fail to report for their appointment; generates reports that assist in the daily function of the office; and performs related duties as required. Performs clerical and support functions related to the Sheriff’s Office. Scope of work requires a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, organization, and attention to detail. This position is located in the Ada County Sheriff's Office, Court Services Bureau, and the Ada County Courthouse.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
A Law Enforcement Records Technician performs key clerical and customer service functions and tasks that are recurring in nature. The work requires good working knowledge of a variety of specific programs.
New Law Enforcement Records Technicians will start out at a Level I pay rate of $19.00. As new Law Enforcement Records Technicians acquire the required skills, they have the opportunity to promote to a Level II pay of $21.00 (usually occurs within the first year) and then to a Level III pay of $23.00.
SHIFT INFORMATION:
Generally Monday - Friday, day shift hours, with some flexibility required.

Essential Functions
+ Operates the ACSO court services desk by scheduling appointments, processing commitment paperwork and answering questions;
+ Operates the Alternative Sentencing Division front desk by checking-in clients, rescheduling appointments, processing necessary paperwork and payments;
+ Operates general office equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and other general office equipment;
+ Operates a central telephone console to receive and route calls;
+ Helps the public with inquiries by identifying and resolving problems and/or referring to appropriate staff for resolution;
+ Receives Judgments of Conviction and processes all required paperwork;
+ Schedules all sentenced individuals as ordered by Magistrate and District Court;
+ Creates and maintains files and other records, and updates databases; and
+ Takes payments for Alternative Sentencing program fees.
Job Requirements
+ Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent;
+ Must have a valid and current driver’s license;
+ Knowledge of English grammar and skill in proofreading;
+ Knowledge of the alternative sentencing concept as it relates to the community and the jail setting preferred;
+ Knowledge of legal procedures, documents, and terminology preferred;
+ Ability to appropriately communicate with individuals who are under stress;
+ Ability to effectively demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills;
+ Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions;
+ Ability to communicate verbally and in writing;
+ Ability to type at least 40 wpm;
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality; and
+ Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
Other Requirements
+ Must appear before an oral board and successfully complete a polygraph and background investigation prior to hire;
+ This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
+ Most of the work is performed around a public safety building, courthouse, and jail campus and may involve an element of personal danger;
+ Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
+ May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.;
+ Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks;
+ May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
