    Our school days runs for 6:50AM - 2:30PM (one day a week until 4:30 for planning)

    Job Description

    REACH Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Art Teacher to inspire and cultivate creativity in our students. The ideal candidate will foster a love for artistic expression while building students' skills in various visual art techniques. This role includes developing students' aesthetic appreciation and guiding them to discover their artistic talents in alignment with the New York State Art Education Standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide engaging instruction in visual arts, including drawing, painting, design, lettering, and art history.

    + Teach students to use a variety of media (e.g., graphite, charcoal, watercolor, acrylics, oil paint) safely and effectively.

    + Foster students' creative thinking, technical skills, and ability to evaluate and critique art.

    + Develop lesson plans that reflect differentiated instruction to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities.

    + Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment, including proper storage and care of art supplies and equipment.

    + Evaluate and track student progress in artistic skill, creativity, and appreciation.

    + Organize and hold student art exhibitions for the school, parents and local community.

    + Maintain accurate records of student achievement and submit progress reports in a timely manner.

    + Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide programs and participate in curriculum development initiatives.

    + Communicate regularly with families and school counselors regarding student performance and development.

    + Support extracurricular programs such as after-school art clubs or enrichment activities.

    + Participate in ongoing professional development and in-service training to maintain instructional excellence.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of School.

     

    Qualifications and Requirements

     

    + Education:

    + Bachelor's degree in Art Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

    + Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Art Education preferred (or eligible for reciprocity).

    + Preferred Experience:

    + Proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.

    + Prior teaching experience in urban education settings is highly desirable.

    + Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of charter education.

    + Skills and Attributes:

    + Strong leadership and classroom management skills.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

    + Outstanding interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

    Salary

     

    REACH Academy Charter School has a salary scale in place. Your salary step will depend on your prior years of experience and certification. A first-year teacher with no experience but has their certification will start at $45,000. A teacher on step 10 which is the most prior credit we can give is $65,830.
