Pay Information
Class 0, Step C – Class 6, Step C ($6,597.26– $8,849.03) per month based on the 2024 AFT – College Faculty Tenured-Tenure Track Faculty Salary Schedule.
+ Initial salary placement for this Adult Instructor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement (https://www.sdccd.edu/departments/human-resources/employee-relations/collective-bargaining-agreements.aspx) .
+ Salary negotiation is not allowed
+ Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made within the first pay period.
+ Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).

The San Diego Community College District is accepting applications for DSPS / Adaptive Art: Contract Instructor – Non-Credit, 10-month assignments The current vacancy exist in Continuing Education and applicants should understand that they may be assigned to any Continuing Education campus. In addition, applications accepted for this position may be considered for identical vacancies that occur throughout Continuing Education for a period up to one year. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend hours.
Major Responsibilities
+ Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
+ Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
+ Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
+ Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
+ Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
+ Teach all scheduled classes.
+ Maintain accurate records.
+ Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
For a noncredit course intended for older adults, either pattern (1) or pattern (2) following:
(1) A bachelor’s degree with a major related to Art; AND either A or B below:
+ (A) Thirty hours or two semester units of course work or class work in understanding the needs of the older adult, taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district. This requirement may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.
+ (B) One year of professional experience working with older adults.
(2) An associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught; and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; and sixty hours or four semester units of coursework or classwork in understanding the needs of the older adult, taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district. This last requirement may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.

Conditions of Employment:
SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT :
+ Submit “official” college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);
+ Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
+ Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the District’s expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);
+ Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form;
+ Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices; AND ,
+ Employed on an initial contract of one (1) year that is eligible for renewal annually for up to a subsequent one-year period.
