    General Summary:

    The Advertising Specialist is responsible for serving as a liaison between ad planning, pricing creative and the merchant community to ensure accurate production of advertising print media. The Specialist will be required to collaborate with Suppliers, Ad Planners, Creative team, Shopper Marketing Merchants and other internal teams to develop and flawlessly execute print media advertising events. The Advertising Specialist is responsible for supporting the production of Circulars, Instore ads (Passouts and Flyers), Grand Opening ads, and Supplier FSIs. This position is responsible for embracing Family Dollar’s store-centric commitment to customers, customer service and sales.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    -Support the ad production end to end process to create compelling and flawlessly executed circular and print advertising materials that will align with Family Dollar brand standards and engage consumers.

     

    -Provide back up and bench strength for the Advertising Manager. Lead production of instore print media and flyers as well as backup to all circular production

     

    -Support and develop the end-to-end Grand opening/GRO ad production and submission process.

     

    -Proofread ads to support and review for accurate content, spelling and grammar. Make suggestions to layout and item/category adjacencies.

     

    -Support the soft proofing process within DemandTec tool and help to drive compliance throughout the merchant community organization.

     

    -Utilize Retek platform. Partner with Ad Planning and Pricing to upload master promotions from DemandTec to Retek.

     

    -Lead store communication across key functional areas and partner with Store Operations to ensure best execution of ads.

     

    -Partner with internal Marketing teams, merchants, pricing, promotional planning and store operations to ensure all elements are timely, accurate and consistent with current branding.

     

    -Support coordination of ad versioning and ensuring accurate production of all versioned ad materials.

     

    -Proactively manage projects, set up schedules, monitor schedule adherence.

     

    -All other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements:

    Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education: BA or BS with concentration in Marketing required; financial curriculum a plus.

     

    Experience: 4 or more years in a marketing role or retail capacity and/or equivalent experience

     

    Job Related Skills: Attention to detail; excellent communication, both verbal and written; ability to manage projects through the life cycle; ability to build and maintain cross functional partnerships; ability to learn and utilize new processes and new technology; strong organizational and priority setting skills, ability to meet deadlines.

     

    Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required; some knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus; some exposure to retail software systems a plus [Retek], Internet product search as needed
