Summary:
As the Director of Data Science for Groups at Meta, you will lead the data strategy for one of the most dynamic and complex ecosystems in the social media landscape. Groups is a cornerstone of Facebook’s community experience, representing a long-tailed ecosystem with strong brand affinity and uniquely valuable content. As the larger social landscape evolves, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how Groups will continue to deliver value to millions of Young Adults in the US and billions of people worldwide.You will leverage your leadership, analytical, and strategic skills to guide a high-impact team, partnering closely with cross-functional leaders in Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, and beyond. Your work will directly influence product direction, investment decisions, and the future trajectory of the Groups ecosystem.

Director, Data Science, Groups Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Set and drive the data vision and strategy for the Groups ecosystem, identifying opportunities and challenges in a rapidly evolving product landscape.
2. Product Impact: Use data to inform and shape product development, quantify new opportunities, and guide the evolution of Groups to maximize long-term user value.
3. Cross-Functional Influence: Collaborate with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, and other functions to align on priorities, make hard tradeoffs, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations.
4. Product Analytics: Develop and refine frameworks to measure the health, quality, and growth of Groups, including SEO, Search, growth, content differentiation, and user engagement.
5. Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists and analytics leaders, fostering a culture of rigor, creativity, and impact.
6. Thought Leadership: Represent Groups Data Science internally and externally, telling compelling data-driven stories and influencing the broader analytics community and executives at Meta.
Minimum Qualifications:

7. Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field
8. 10+ years of professional experience in applied analytics, data science, or a related discipline
9. 8+ years of experience managing and scaling analytics or data science teams, including experience leading other Data Science leaders
10. Demonstrated success driving influencing product direction and strategy in large-scale, complex product environments
11. Proven ability to communicate results of analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
12. Strong experience initiating and completing complex analytical projects across multiple teams and functions
13. Track record of hiring, mentoring, and retaining high-performing analytics talent
14. Advanced proficiency in data languages (SQL, Python or R) and math/statistics

16. Experience with large-scale recommendation systems
17. Familiarity with multi-sided content ecosystems
18. Familiarity with SEO and/or social media platforms
Public Compensation:
$253,000/year to $314,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
