Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Research Assistant to support ongoing quantitative and qualitative research projects. The Research Assistant will work closely with researchers and project teams on tasks ranging from data analysis and literature review to policy analysis and manuscript preparation. This role is ideal for someone interested in gaining hands-on research experience in an academic, legal, or policy-focused environment.
+ Conduct comprehensive literature reviews across academic, legal, and policy sources
+ Assist with quantitative data tasks, including data cleaning, coding, basic analysis, and visualization
+ Support qualitative research activities such as document review, coding, categorization, and thematic analysis
+ Review, summarize, and categorize legal policies, statutes, regulations, and related documents
+ Edit and format manuscripts, reports, and presentations for clarity, consistency, and publication readiness
+ Maintain organized research documentation, data files, and version control
+ Prepare summaries, tables, figures, and briefing materials for internal and external use
+ Present research findings and progress updates to project teammates in meetings
+ Assist with other research-related tasks as needed across multiple projects
+ Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled) in a relevant field such as social science, data science, public policy, law, economics, or a related discipline
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
+ Experience conducting literature reviews and synthesizing complex information
+ Clear written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a collaborative research environment
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with quantitative analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, Stata, SPSS, or Excel)
+ Familiarity with qualitative research methods (e.g., coding frameworks, policy analysis, content analysis)
+ Experience editing academic manuscripts or policy reports
+ Interest in legal, policy, or social science research
+ Prior research assistant or academic research experience

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $20-$25.
