While this role is hybrid when filled at 100% effort, part-time appointments require full on-site work in Ann Arbor, MI. You will support live sessions, which typically happen in the evenings between 5 to 10 pm, Monday through Thursday. Occasional daytime live sessions may occur, and we do not limit this role only to live production. In weeks without live sessions, the work may shift to daytime hours and include tasks such as editing or supporting asynchronous content. What You'll Do
As the Digital Media Designer, you will work in our digital education studio to support and enhance live online classes. You'll bring strategies, stories, and ideas to life through thoughtful media design, developing everything from video assets and podcasts to immersive XR experiences. You will report to and collaborate with the Media Services Manager in the Office of Digital Education to shape and launch a new generation of innovative digital learning offerings.
This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Responsibilities*
+ Live Online Class Support (60%)
+ Provide AV, IT, and other technical support in our digital education studios during our online live classes or events.
+ Edit and deliver live session recordings and other assets.
+ Pre-produce live classes with faculty and staff.
+ Media Production & Direction (15%)
+ Be a creative lead for digital media production (podcasts/video casts) o Create, record, and edit digital media for online transmission
+ Film and direct on-site and in-studio video content for curricular and co-curricular use
+ Film, facilitate, and direct in-studio synchronous digital teaching sessions o Source all relevant resources, including equipment, content, and guests
+ Creative Development & Digital Asset Creation (5%)
+ Conceptualize, create, and prepare media of different styles that support all disciplines at Ross
+ Collaborate with the video production team on the creation and production of video assets
+ Collaborate with Ross faculty to brainstorm on digital asset creations and identify opportunities to incorporate multimedia and video components
+ Research, Innovation & Continuous Improvement (5%)
+ Review literature, new practices, and tools to stay current with trends in digital media, production, and educational technology
+ Apply new insights to projects and workflows, including procedures, presentations, proposals, and publications
+ Quality Assurance & Content Oversight (5%)
+ Contribute to content quality control including evaluation, review, and oversight to ensure high production and instructional quality standards
Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience in sound and video editing.
+ Demonstrated experience in live production.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of the higher education environment.
+ Demonstrated progressive experience in project management and people management, including successful launch and implementation of new initiatives.
+ You want to work in a diverse and multicultural environment.
+ Experience storyboarding ideas to gain approval.
+ Experience with Adobe Cloud and Apple software to create motion graphics.
+ Proficiency with a variety of media, including a fluency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; additional skills in Sketch, After Effects, and digital prototyping tools.
+ Experience with file formats and codecs used in video production.
+ Ongoing commitment to improving skills, acquiring new technical knowledge, and staying current with design trends.

Additional Information
The posting range for this position is $58,300 to $71,900. As this is a part-time role with 50% effort, the salary range will be prorated accordingly to **$29,150 to $35,950** . This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, **it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range** . Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
