The Forensic Mental Health Program provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
To facilitate, coordinate, implement, and supervise the delivery of Laboratory services provided at Forensic Services (FS).
Duties:
+ Assign, coordinate, and supervise the delivery of Laboratory services at Forensic Services so the mission, goals, and functions of the department and facility are carried out, and all patients receive safe, quality care.
+ Ensure the Laboratory department can provide accurate high-quality results for all tests ordered by medical and psychiatric staff.Tests are either performed in the department or sent out to a qualified Reference Laboratory.
+ Perform testing, providing accurate results for all tests ordered by the medical staff.Will perform the test in the Laboratory or send it out to a qualified Reference Laboratory so the medical staff will have the best information possible to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
+ Set up and maintain the Orchard Harvest/ Copia Laboratory Information System, including updates. Serve as source expert for Avatar EHR lab functions.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain performance improvement processes for the Laboratory department by continuously striving to improve the quality of care provided.
+ Operate the Laboratory department within the allocated budget requirements. Order and maintain sufficient inventories of supplies and provide input and decision-making into new equipment purchases, so the Laboratory department can operate efficiently without interruption of services.
+ Ensure the physical and environmental condition of the Laboratory department is appropriate for the testing performed and provide a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.Comply with all safety and health standards, rules, regulations, and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science.
+ Current ASCP certification.
+ Knowledge of and ability to apply infection control procedures and techniques, including standard precautions in a laboratory environment
+ Experience analyzing proficiency and quality control data, and implementation of appropriate corrective action when necessary
+ Understanding of the clinical significance of laboratory test results and their impact on patient diagnosis and treatment
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with Laboratory information systems, including Avatar, Orchard Harvest, and/or Copia
+ Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements, including CLIA compliance
+ Experience with Joint Commission laboratory accreditation standards, and survey processes
+ Supervisory or lead work experience in a laboratory or clinical environment
+ Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and performance improvement programs, including audits and ongoing monitoring
+ Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations, demonstrating cultural awareness and inclusivity.
