    The Senior Data Scientist uses industry leading advanced analytics and data science practices to deliver on Intermountain Healthcare's mission to 'Help people live the healthiest lives possible'; making healthcare more affordable and higher quality; and making a difference in the patients and communities we serve. Data Scientists use statistics, machine learning, and AI to discover insights and make recommendations for key business decisions.

    Position Details:

    Building an in-house cohort development team enhances autonomy, efficiency, and strategic alignment while reducing vendor risks and costs. It develops internal expertise as a competitive advantage and enables easy comparison of provider and facility performance on supply costs, outcomes, and claims—accelerating improvement opportunities and advancing our Proactive Care strategy.

     

    This is a remote position. Incumbent will work Monday-Friday during regular business hours.

    Job Essentials

    + Develops innovative data science tools and methods that result in products or strategic insights with significant return on investment while meeting project requirements and timelines.

    + Prepares data from diverse data stores for analytics including data mining and feature engineering within large datasets with complex classes and anomalies.

    + Employs advanced statistical techniques while effectively and accurately interpreting the results of quantitative models to achieve clear outcomes.

    + Proficiently uses statistical programming languages and tools appropriate for data science domains.

    + Proficiently uses scripting languages to work with APIs, move data, and construct custom enterprise-grade software utilities, applications, or analytic products to automate, improve, and operationalize quantitative models.

    + Quickly learns and appropriately applies cutting-edge advanced analytic methodologies and tools in creative and novel ways.

    + Project Management **Minimum Qualifications:**

    + Experience applying multiple statistical and machine learning modeling techniques (e.g., generalized linear models, tree-based classification, network analysis, simulation modeling, inferential statistics, natural language processing, other structured and unstructured analytical methods).

    + Experience developing custom machine learning methods.

    + Experience programming using quantitative, procedural, and statistical programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, Spark, and Matlab.

    + Understanding of data science systems and applications.

    + Advanced experience using databases including design principles, data frameworks, and query languages.

    + Experience efficiently manipulating, combining, and analyzing large or complex data sets, including unstructured data sources.

    + Experience developing, analyzing, interpreting, and managing various complex data sets to drive insights with meaningful outcomes and demonstrated return on investment.

    + Successful experience leading and participating in advanced analytic projects from inception to model deployment and workflow integration.

    + Skilled in communicating technical insights through data visualization, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.

    + Experience fostering data science partnerships across all levels of an organization through effective communication and relationship management. **​** **Preferred Qualifications:**

    + Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience- or -Master's Degree and two years of experience. Degree must be earned in a related field such as statistics, data science, applied mathematics, computer science, information systems, or other quantitative and computational discipline.

    + Experience in the field of data science, including measured outcomes from the development and deployment of algorithms, applications, or products.

    + Experience integrating statistical and machine learning methodologies into workflows.

    + Experience programming and reviewing code using statistical and data software tools like R, Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, etc.

    + Experience using or creating APIs, functions, libraries, and/or packages.

    + Experience successfully using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, NoSQL, in-memory data stores, etc., and Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, etc.

    + Successful project experience working with advanced data analysis in a healthcare or insurance setting.

    + Longitudinal patient cohort experience is preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    + Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing

    + Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands

    + See and read computer monitors and documents

    + Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment

    + May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

     

    $54.12 - $85.20
