QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree required
+ Master’s degree in Library Science preferred
+ Valid Iowa Teaching License required, K-8 or K-12 School Teacher Librarian endorsement preferred
+ Knowledge of children’s, young adult and adult literature
+ Knowledge of curriculum, information literacy and current library/media trends
+ Knowledge of technologies used to support information literacy and content
+ Highly effective interpersonal skills
+ Flexibility in position assignment to support building and district student needs

PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR (licensed teacher librarian)
+ Designs the library learning commons to provide welcoming, flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and community
+ Provides and advocates for equitable access to connectivity, digital devices, information resources, programming, and services in support of the district’s strategic vision
+ Plans budget with the principal and/or other administrators and maintains a balanced budget
+ Manages the library learning commons facility, resources and staff
+ Reviews the library resources and program using a systemic process to ensure an equitable and culturally diverse collection and resources
+ Curates and shares resources and tools
+ Communicates information literacy program goals clearly
+ Coordinate with library staff on the daily operation of the library and related areas
TEACHER, INFORMATION SPECIALIST
+ Collaborates, designs and implements curriculum standards, lessons, and materials for: information literacy, digital citizenship, coding, maker movement, and other focus areas, as directed
+ Collaborates with teachers and administrators to integrate the information literacy, digital citizenship and other focused area standards
+ Formatively assesses student learning and provides feedback
+ Supports and promotes lifelong learning, intellectual freedom, patron privacy, copyright, and other legal, ethical responsibilities
+ Encourages students to become increasingly self-directed as they create products to share their learning which demonstrate critical thinking, collaboration and authentic, real-world problem solving
+ Promotes digital citizenship skills through instruction and modeling
+ Promotes information literacy curriculum standards through instruction and modeling of skills, resources, and tools
+ Uses a variety of methods to communicate and promote new resources, services, and programs to the school community
+ Promotes literacy through individual, small-group, or whole class instructional settings
+ Cultivates instructional partnerships to support evidence-based curricula and assessments that integrate elements of deeper learning, critical thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship, creativity, innovation, and the active use of technology
