    The Specialist, Technical Operations Communications is part of Global Engagement, a dynamic and collaborative team that helps shape the company’s actions, along with its engagement with internal and external stakeholders, to help build and protect the American Airlines brand and reputation. Specifically, this individual supports the communications needs of the Technical Operations organization, shaping and executing timely, clear and strategic communications initiatives for the team that helps keep American’s operation running. The Technical Operations team this individual supports is responsible for the maintenance and repair work performed by our team of aviation maintenance professionals, engineers and quality control team members.

    What you'll do

    • Translate complex operational and corporate initiatives into clear, actionable messaging that resonate with team members.

    • Strengthen understanding of business decisions and operational changes by developing communications plans, media materials, process guides and stories highlighting the impact and importance of Technical Operations within the larger broader narrative.

    • Manage and support internal and external communications channels to effectively reach Technical Operations team members, leadership and support staff.

    • Develop an in-depth understanding of American’s Technical Operations business practices and the broader airline industry.

    • Develop and execute compelling communications strategies around fast-moving issues with tight deadlines. Work on real-time business issues with American’s leadership team and drive the company’s internal positioning.

    • Uphold the integrity of the Global Engagement team by developing and maintaining strong relationships with leaders across the company.

    • Provide support and content for other company channels.

    • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

     

    All you'll need for success

    Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training

    + 2 years of relevant work experience in communications

    + Knowledge of and/or experience in aviation maintenance and the commercial airline industry

    Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + 2-3 years’ experience preferred working in corporate communications or media relations for a large, multi-national organization

    + Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills

    + Familiar with Associated Press style

    + Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing landscapes and to work well under pressure and tight deadlines

    + Strong organization and analytical skills, solution and detail-oriented

    + Strong ability to collaborate multiple stakeholders dealing with competing priorities

    + Capable of anticipating needs and driving clarity on expectations

    + High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information

    + Thrives in a fast-paced atmosphere where you work under pressure and can meet critical deadlines

    + Graphic design skills helpful

    + Strong team player
