GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC) is an organization with a rich history and a bright future in a rapidly evolving energy sector. As a leader in the energy industry, we look to our employees to help us grow, change, and provide power to over 500,000 members of our 17 electric distribution cooperatives. A Law Clerk will support and gain experience working with our in-house Legal Division in several areas, including but not limited to regulatory, corporate, compliance and litigation. AECC is uniquely positioned as a public utility where interns experience both traditional business law combined with specialized regulated utility law. We’re looking for someone who can develop core research, analytical and writing skills that can be applied across the organization. In this position, you will be given the opportunity to take the skills you have acquired in law school and apply them in a professional setting to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and strive to push forward AECC’s mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research law by studying ordinances, statutes, constitutions, regulations, court opinions, and precedents
Prepares documents, drafts correspondences, summarizes records and findings, writes briefs and other legal pleadings or memoranda; and Resolves other ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
Detailed and accuracy oriented.
Exceptional analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Technologically adept and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Strong communication skills; oral and written.
Self-starter and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.

Pursuing a Juris Doctorate degree at time of application.
