PHP Developer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer to support a platform transition and help build out new PHP-based applications using the JetBrains ecosystem. This is a hands-on, heads-down role for someone who enjoys owning development work end to end and is comfortable operating in a Linux server environment.

This position blends core PHP development with light systems administration, making it ideal for someone who has supported production applications in a mid-to-large enterprise environment and can step in confidently to move work forward.

What You’ll Be Doing

+ Develop and maintain customer-facing PHP applications

+ Build and support API integrations

+ Serve as a key contributor during the platform transition to PHPStorm / JetBrains

+ Manage application deployments, services, permissions, and troubleshooting on Linux servers

+ Collaborate closely with existing developers to support workload and accelerate delivery

+ Work independently to identify dependencies, tools, and best practices needed for development

+ Support backend data access and integrations using SQL

+ Contribute to environment setup and ongoing stability as systems are being built out

+ EDI experience is a strong plus, especially for integration-focused work

Required Experience & Skills

+ 5+ years of professional PHP development experience

+ Strong experience with Git (branching, merging, collaboration workflows)

+ Proven ability to independently deploy, configure, and support PHP applications on Linux servers

+ Hands-on experience developing applications and APIs using PHPStorm (JetBrains)

+ Solid SQL skills, including configuring data and setting up database connections

+ Comfortable managing services, permissions, and troubleshooting production issues

+ Experience working in a mid-to-large company environment

Nice to Have

+ EDI or integration-heavy background

+ Experience supporting production systems during platform or tooling transitions

+ Ability to guide others on tooling, dependencies, and development best practices

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software development roles, with a focus on server environment setup.

• Advanced proficiency in PHPStorm and JetBrains tools.

• Strong knowledge of backend development, including SQL Server and database configurations.

• Expertise in API development and integration.

• Familiarity with Git for version control.

• Solid experience in PHP development.

• Proven ability to work in mid-sized or larger organizations.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
