We are excited to announce a career opportunity for a dynamic industry leader in the role of Market Office Leader - Transportation for our Des Moines, Iowa operations. This is a key, strategic role with tremendous market growth opportunities and upside for someone who wants to grow a Transportation team and build upon an existing office location in Des Moines. As part of this role, you will be a vital member of the East-Central Leadership Team, collectively empowering our people to innovate without boundaries to transform and uplift Iowa communities - one project at time.
In this role you’ll help lead the overall portfolio performance and delivery within the state of Iowa across the Transportation market. We already have a strong portfolio in the Transportation market throughout the Midwest and you will be responsible to work with our East-Central geography staff to build upon our Transportation team in Des Moines. You will provide leadership and connectivity across operations, sales, project delivery, and market solutions functions to ensure the best collaboration in service to our business, our people, and our clients. You’ll get to leverage and amplify our Jacobs brand in the local marketplace and help accelerate our impact in creating enduring social value and community impact. You’ll provide inspirational leadership to the local team and leverage your experience and influence across the entire organization.
We’ll look to you for the vision and strategic direction of our Transportation operations in Iowa, in alignment with our Jacobs strategic aspirations, including new services and target growth areas. Our Midwest talent force provides client solutions to diverse submarkets, including environmental planning, highway/bridges, traffic/advanced mobility, transit, drinking water/ wastewater/water resources, and construction management. Our Iowa team is proud to serve clients locally as well as nationally.

Key Responsibilities:
You’ll serve as a key local leader and will be accountable and responsible for the following activities:
•Known and trusted Transportation industry executive to lead the Jacobs’ Iowa operations
•Serves as a principal point of contact with all local Iowa Transportation clients
•Responsible for committed Business Metrics & KPIs, including P&L components within the larger Director of Operations’ targets
•Key decision-maker to position and develop strategic teaming arrangements for Iowa Transportation clients such as Iowa DOT, DART, City of Des Moines and other strategic local units of government
•Recruit and hire top talent in the Des Moines area, retain talent, and promote an inclusive and diverse environment
•Effectively integrates sales, operations, and project delivery functions
•Market growth opportunities, working jointly with Transportation and Water Market Growth Directors and Regional Market Solution Leaders
•External visibility to promote the Jacobs brand throughout the state of Iowa
•Oversee people development and career development for Des Moines based staff
•Promotes Jacobs BeyondZero, quality, and safety programs to create an incident- and injury-free culture

•Demonstrated progressive leadership experience in Transportation - with a desire to work across other markets (water & buildings)
•Iowa Market Knowledge: brings established relationships with Iowa-based clients; has a commanding knowledge of the Iowa market, specifically in Transportation; and understands the political landscape driving local public policy and actively engages in government affairs
•Business Acumen and Collaborative Leadership: demonstrates high-level business/financial acumen; co-creates and collaborates effectively within the existing Des Moines staff, Midwest Transportation sales team, and the broader global Jacobs; and creates trusting relationships inside and outside the leadership team

•Outcome Driven: establishes KPIs and disseminates results to local staff and other stakeholders; demonstrates relentless prioritization for growth in the Transportation market in Iowa and results that keep pace with business needs and expectations from Senior Leadership
•Client Centric: brings genuine relationships with Iowa clients; strong partnership with other Client Account Managers (CAM) to deliver tailored, cross-functional, future-forward solutions that anticipate/address clients’ evolving needs
•Builds Talent: has personally developed the next generation of leaders through coaching/mentoring/sponsoring/succession planning; puts appropriate emphasis on developing diverse employees as part of our larger inclusion strategy
•Digital Mindset and Global Delivery: can lead and empower the adoption of the Jacobs digital solutions strategy in our book of business; promotes the use of global delivery centers (GDCs) to meet client commitments, drive growth, and enhance profitability

Ideally, you’ll also have:
•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
•Professional Engineer Registration in Iowa
•Profit & Loss management experience
•Familiarity with the South Dakota Department of Transportation with a willingness to help develop a market presence
