We are seeking a motivated and skilled Design Lead to join our dynamic team. As a Design Lead, you will play a critical role in guiding and mentoring team members, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring that design projects meet client expectations. Your expertise will help drive the team's success and align it with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
+ Serve as the primary point of support, ensuring team members have the resources, tools, and information needed to succeed.
+ Facilitate collaboration and communication, promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
+ Monitor workload and well-being, proactively addressing challenges and removing obstacles to maintain productivity and morale.
+ Advocate for the team’s needs with leadership, ensuring alignment between organizational goals and team capabilities.
+ Inspect work in progress for the team to ensure that designs conform to standards and that work adheres to correct schedules.
+ Ensure projects meet customer and client expectations.
+ Communicate any problems to the Design Manager.
+ Actively communicate and handle customer complaints.
+ Act as primary point of contact and liaison between customers, construction, and utility providers.
+ Design facilities for new and existing customers according to the customer’s construction standards.
+ Read and interpret multiple types of construction drawings to determine job scopes.
+ Manage and report on multiple projects from start to finish.
+ Work with area engineers, customers, and local division support to meet deadlines.
+ Obtain permits and easements for facilities in accordance with city ordinances, state, federal, and county agencies as required.
+ Execute contracts and agreements in compliance with administrative instructions and regulatory requirements.
+ Actively communicate with customers, vendors, and supervisors on all aspects of individual jobs.
+ Provide cost-effective estimates to your customers using standardized documents.
+ Schedule and attend meetings on-site with customers to determine site-specific requirements.
Essential Skills
+ 2-3 years’ experience in Distribution Utility Design (including Gas and Electric).
+ Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software.
+ Understanding utility standards.
+ Experience working in SAP platform.
+ Proficient user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Experience working with underground utilities.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with all customers.
+ Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License for the state in which the primary work functions are performed.
+ Strong customer service skills with the ability to build relationships.
+ Demonstrate a genuine passion for mentorship.
+ Excellent analytical skills with high-level accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to be effective and efficient.
+ Must be comfortable and effective working in an environment with changing demands, delays, and responding to unexpected situations.
+ Ability to maintain and protect confidential information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred: Associates or bachelor’s degree in a design, construction, or related field.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
Work Environment
The role will initially involve roughly 70% design and 30% quality checking of junior designers' work. As experience is gained, this will shift to approximately 70% quality checking and 30% design. The position is client-facing and involves a mix of office work and field support to visit customer sites. The office is located in Dove Valley, CO, approximately 15 miles south of Denver, and operates five days a week. Flexible start times are available after training, with work hours between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM. The role includes a 1.5-hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks daily.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwood Village, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
