    Job Title: Data Architect

    Job Description

    The Data Architect is responsible for leading the design, development, and governance of enterprise data platform architectures. This role is crucial in transforming siloed datasets into integrated, trusted, and queryable data assets that support advanced data analytics.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead the logical and physical design of enterprise relational databases.

    + Integrate siloed datasets from multiple source systems into a cohesive relational database architecture.

    + Analyze source system schemas, semantics, and data quality to determine relationships between datasets and identify potential data joins.

    + Ensure integrated datasets support a range of user queries.

    + Implement scalable data pipelines that support data analytics and AI/ML applications, leveraging techniques such as data warehousing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and data streaming.

    + Perform data wrangling, merging, cleaning, normalization, and transformation to prepare data for analysis.

    + Implement monitoring systems to ensure data pipeline reliability and performance.

    + Implement algorithms required to perform data engineering functions.

    + Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes.

    + Stay updated on best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.

    + 5+ years of experience in database architecture engineering or a similar role with hands-on experience working with relational databases.

    + Advanced/Expert-level expertise with Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.

    + Advanced skills in SQL.

    + Strong understanding of the Data Engineering process.

    + Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, JSON/XML, structured and unstructured query languages).

    + Proficiency with data modeling notations.

    + Proficiency in data manipulation libraries (e.g., NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn).

    + Experience with data warehousing solutions and technologies, including RedShift, BigQuery, and Snowflake.

    + Experience with data orchestration / ETL tools such as Apache Airflow, Informatica, Apache NiFi, Prefect.

    + Hands-on experience with at least one graph database technology (e.g., Neo4J, GraphDB).

    + Familiarity with graph query languages such as SPARQL.

    + Eligible to receive a Secret/Top Secret clearance.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Ability to clearly and simply communicate complex solutions to senior level leadership.

    + Experience with ETL/TS tools and frameworks.

    + Experience with data analytics, data mining, and statistical analysis.

    + Experience with software containerization technologies such as Docker and Podman.

     

    Work Environment

     

    This role requires working onsite in Rockville, MD following a 3-2-1 policy: 3 days onsite, with 2 mandatory days on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 1 day of your choosing.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $57.50/hr.
