Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Generalist
Job Description
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Generalist is responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests across various disciplines to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct testing in Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunohematology, Serology, and Parasitology.
+ Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
+ Perform quality control procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Analyze and interpret test results, reporting findings accurately and promptly.
+ Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care decisions.
+ Participate in training and onboarding of new staff and students.
+ Cover multiple benches and assist in any area as needed in a small urgent care lab setting.
+ Perform serology-specific duties such as infectious disease testing (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, etc.), autoimmune panels, and titer testing.
+ Utilize immunoassay platforms such as ELISA and chemiluminescence.
+ Interpret antigen-antibody interactions and troubleshoot discrepancies.
Essential Skills
+ Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
+ Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
+ 1–2 years of experience preferred, especially in acute care hospital settings.
+ Comfortable working across all lab areas without specialization.
+ Strong communication and documentation skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ New graduates may be considered if highly knowledgeable and adaptable.
+ Experience with Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Serology.
+ Proficiency in molecular biology and PCR techniques.
Work Environment
Work in a small urgent care lab supporting ambulatory clinics and outpatient specialties. The environment is moderate volume with approximately 400 specimens per day. Flexibility to cover 2-3 benches at a time is required. The initial training period is full-time for 2–6 weeks, Monday–Friday, 8/9 AM–5 PM. Shifts range from 8:00 AM to 10:30 PM, 3x/week or more, with on-call availability based on monthly scheduling. Evening hours coverage is needed, 7 days a week. The organization offers flexible scheduling options and supports a collaborative environment where lab professionals work closely with clinicians and support staff.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
