    Pharmacy Technician – Intermediate Level

    Description

    Join our pharmacy team and play a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure safe and accurate medication distribution. This position involves preparing unit doses, performing data entry, delivering medications, and managing cartfill exchanges. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and adhere to established standard operating procedures to maintain accountability and accuracy.

     

    Our patients range from neonates and infants to adolescents, adults, and the elderly, so attention to detail and commitment to safety are essential. This role requires proficiency in tasks outlined in Pharmacy Technician I and II specifications as applicable to the work unit.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Prepare, mix, and compound sterile medications, including chemotherapy, following strict aseptic techniques.

    + Perform pharmaceutical calculations to verify medication dosages.

    + Clean and maintain engineering controls (e.g., laminar flow hoods) and compounding equipment.

    + Assist pharmacists with technical support activities, including:

    + Computer order entry for inpatient and outpatient prescriptions

    + Filling unit dose medication orders

    + Selecting medications from inventory for new orders and 24-hour distribution

    + Answering phones, filing, billing/crediting, and maintaining medication profiles

    + Loading and refilling automated dispensing cabinets

    + Maintain manufacturing logs and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

    + Prioritize and process medication labels to meet delivery timelines.

    + Perform other technician duties as assigned based on operational needs.

     

    Required Skills & Qualifications

     

    + High School Diploma or GED

    + State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)

    + PTCB National Pharmacy Technician Certification

    + Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience

    + Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical math

    + Skilled in aseptic technique and handling sterile/hazardous medications

    + Ability to manipulate small objects and operate fluid transfer systems

    + Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

    + Ability to prioritize tasks, work in a team environment, and manage time effectively

    + Experience in de-escalating challenging situations with patients or partners

    This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $29.07 - $39.33/hr.
