The Survey Crew Chief supervises and participates in technical survey engineering work, overseeing a field crew and ensuring accurate and efficient execution of various survey types including boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and construction surveys. This role requires planning and organizing daily field activities, training staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety compliance. The Crew Chief is responsible for field calculations, data collection, and reporting project status to office staff.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise and lead a survey field crew.
+ Plan and organize daily field activities.
+ Conduct boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and construction surveys.
+ Train staff and maintain survey equipment.
+ Ensure compliance with safety standards.
+ Perform field calculations and data collection.
+ Report project status to office staff.
Essential Skills
+ Experience leading survey crews.
+ Proficiency in GPS and robotic instruments.
+ Ability to perform survey calculations.
+ Strong documentation and communication skills.
+ Knowledge of surveying principles, equipment, and techniques.
+ Ability to perform algebra, geometry, and trigonometry calculations.
+ Strong communication and leadership skills.
+ Experience interpreting construction plans and legal documents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with PMI policies and procedures.
+ Experience with specific data collectors or instruments.
+ Knowledge of traffic control safety standards.
+ Experience with Total Station, Topcon, Trimble GPS, and AutoCAD.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Must be 18 years of age.
Work Environment
This position involves outdoor fieldwork in varying weather and terrain conditions, with exposure to construction sites, wildlife, and plant materials. Frequent lifting of 25 lbs and regular lifting up to 50 lbs is required. The role involves travel up to 20% outside the area, including overnight and weekend stays. A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a DBIDS or Rapid Gate Pass is necessary. Steel toe boots are required for this role.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $72800.00/yr.
