Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Fermentation Technician, where you will play a crucial role in producing microbial products for the food, biofuels, and pharmaceutical industries using the fermentation process. Utilize your skills to scale up microbes and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
+ Follow specific work instructions and batch records to scale up microbes.
+ Perform media and microbial solution preparation.
+ Operate large-scale fermenting instrumentation and equipment using aseptic technique daily.
+ Conduct sterilization, inoculation, and product recovery as needed.
+ Track total product from start to finish, including recovery, total yield, and quantities per each processing step.
+ Perform simple testing, including in-process and finished product samples using instruments such as GC/HPLC, Karl-Fisher, optical density, pH, and microscope for counts/possible contamination.
+ Work with the CIP System for sanitation and processing.
+ Maintain production, analytical, and quality documentation.
+ Utilize the SAP system for operational needs.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with fermentation and the ability to operate fermentation equipment.
+ Understanding of the fermentation process and basic lab testing on microbial solutions.
+ Experience with or knowledge of aseptic techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in food, manufacturing, fermentation, or as a chemical operator.
+ Familiarity with SOP and CIP processes.
+ Education in Biology, Microbiology, or related fields.
+ Open to candidates with actual fermentation experience or college graduates eager to enter this field.
Work Environment
The role is based in a microbial manufacturing site with a lab, where you will work alongside other fermentation professionals to scale up microbes for customers. The position involves a night shift with a 12-hour rotating schedule from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The schedule rotates every two weeks, with specific days off and workdays detailed above. Candidates will collaborate with a team of three to five in the fermentation area and also engage in lab work for microbial solution preparation and basic analytical testing. Enjoy a $4 shift differential when switching to night shifts, along with strong benefits and competitive pay based on performance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
