    The Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI) is seeking a hard-working and committed Retirement Benefit Analyst with experience providing world-class customer service. This position is located in Boise, full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week, with full benefits.

As a Retirement Benefit Analyst will be responsible for retirement calculations including PERSI benefit formulas, retirement factors, and statutory requirements. You’re dedicated to PERSI core values of commitment, character and competence and looking to continue learning in an ever-evolving field. You also have the ability to be flexible and manage priorities, have an easy-going attitude, and enjoy working with both internal and external customers.

     

    You will report to the Member Services Supervisor and be the primarily responsible for calculating member’s retirement benefits for benefit estimates and retiree payroll. You’ll work together with the PERSI staff to build stronger relationships with our members at every step of their retirement journey. Additionally, you will be a key contributor in identifying areas to improve service for our membership.

    Example of Duties:

    + Initiate all member retirement benefits, including benefit calculation, setup taxes and direct deposits.

    + Process and review divorce documentation to ensure compliance with court orders.

    + Accurately and completely explain statutory requirements for service credit, average monthly salary, benefit calculations and death benefits in response to member questions.

    + Be a resource to members by providing over-the-phone customer service.

    + Assist members with in-person meetings when Retirement Counselor is unavailable.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

    Some knowledge of:

    + Supervisory practices - This is typically gained through completion of a class or seminar (of more than 1 day) specifically covering supervisory practices OR completion of a college course covering supervisory practices OR lead work experience that involved work assignment, direction, and monitoring of staff.

    Experience:

    + Records management - This is typically gained with at least one year of experience (or more) monitoring records systems, identifying problems and correcting errors.

    + Interpreting, applying or explaining state or federal laws, rules, and policies - This is typically gained with at least one year of work experience which frequently required interpreting and applying a variety of difficult rules, regulations, or policies to determine compliance or eligibility and explaining decisions to others. Decisions are complex and can affect the social or economic well-being of others or will result in a service or action being denied.

    + Researching and reviewing legal documents for compliance with laws and to identify and resolve complex issues (e.g. court orders, contracts, ownership, deeds, trusts, tax returns) - This is typically gained with at least one year of work experience which frequently required interpreting and applying a variety of difficult rules, regulations, or policies to determine compliance or eligibility and explaining decisions to others. Decisions are complex and can affect the social or economic well-being of others or will result in a service or action being denied.

    + Creating correspondence and documents using word processing software - This is typically gained with at least one year of office experience which required composing and proofreading a variety of business documents on a regular basis; OR, I with the completion of at least one college-level English composition or business English class AND six months of experience composing business documents.
