Job Summary
The Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Academy Faculty member will perform instructional duties and related activities in accordance with the philosophies and procedures of Arapahoe Community College and the policies of the Colorado Community College System.
ACC faculty members are responsible for teaching 30 credit hours annually (generally 15, credits each fall and spring semester). Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery (e.g. hybrid, online, or accelerated); some weekend/evening teaching may be required. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions. Every ACC faculty and staff member is expected to participate in the assessment process of the College, utilizing the results of assessment for continuous institutional improvement.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate Criminal Justice courses in the CRJ and LEA programs which may include but is not limited to: investigatory procedures; communications; human relations; basic law; US Constitutional issues; patrol procedures; officer safety; community relations and observational skills, and or correctional classes, depending on the candidates qualifications. Additional responsibilities include student advising and assessment, direct contact with students in scenario roles and assessment of reality-based scenario training.
The successful candidate will also assist with CRJ and LEA program logistics which may include but is not limited to: purchasing equipment, vehicle maintenance, scheduling, assisting other instructors and coordinating with Criminal Justice agencies.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in a related field from an accredited institution.
+ Five (5) years’ practical experience in the field of Criminal Justice. Part-time experience will be pro-rated; ten years of applicable part-time experience is equivalent to five years of full-time experience.
+ Have, or qualify for, a post-secondary CTE credential including 4,000 paid non-teaching or non training occupational hours within the last seven (7) years.
+ Must be located in the state of Colorado to perform duties.
Preferred:
+ Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
+ One (1) year experience in a basic Law Enforcement Academy environment.
+ Postsecondary instructional experience with minimum of Two (2) years’ experience teaching Criminal Justice classes in an accredited academic setting
+ Experience advising students.
+ Demonstrated success building professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external clients and outside agencies.
+ Competency with multiple instructional delivery methods such as online, hybrid, web-enhanced, and face-to-face.
+ Experience developing and marketing programs.
+ Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies.
+ Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
+ Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces.
+ Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats.
+ Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations.

Salary Information:
The projected start date for this position is August 2026. The salary range for this position is $61,940 to $77,239, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August to May). Salary will be pro-rated based on actual contract days worked. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
