Join BJC's Progress West Hospital as a Surgical Tech!

+ Part-Time- 24 Hours / Week

+ 1830-0700 Night Shift (Every third weekend and varies during the week)

+ Surgical Technologist Experience or accredited schooling preferred - New Grads Welcome!

+ Key Responsibilities:

+ Surgical Tech responsibilities including; assisting in C-sections, making sure necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure are ready, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies

+ Tech responsibilities as in monitoring mother and baby vital signs, blood draws, and blood sugar checking, etc.

+ New born testing; hearing screens, heel sticks, oxygen testing etc.

+ Assisting with circumcisions as well as assisting with deliveries

Overview

Opened in 2007, **Progress West Hospital** is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

+ Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.

+ Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.

+ Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

Minimum Requirements

Education

+ High School Diploma or GED

Experience

+ <2 years or military equivalent experience

Supervisor Experience

+ No Experience
