HCA Tristar Health is excited to announce our NEW Phlebotomy Apprenticeship program in partnership with TN College of Applied Technology (TCAT). Our apprenticeship provides the on-the-job learning and training you need to jump start your healthcare career. In this paid program, apprentices will receive 100+ hours of classroom and hands-on clinical learning in our hospital as you earn your Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification through the National Healthcareeer Association. Initial Work Schedule will be Monday – Thursday - day shift;Friday’sin the classroom at TCAT
Upon completion of classroom training, you must be willing to convert to anopen shift (Days, Evenings or Nights)
In This Program You Will Learn How To:
+ Collect blood andchecksthe quality of blood from donors.
+ Prepare,cleanand sterilize equipment, instruments, and work area to collect blood products.
+ Conduct designated laboratory testing.
+ Perform venipuncture, arterial, and capillary punctures on patients.
+ Identifyand label specimens.
+ Instruct patients on urine collection procedures.
+ Perform bleeding time tests and urine dipstick tests.
+ Perform sweat chloride collection procedure orDrug ofAbuse urine collection procedure.
+ Enter laboratory data into the computer system.
Upon Completion of theProgramYou Will:
+ Have the ability toreceive a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certification through the NationalHealthcareerAssociation Exam
+ Acquireknowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine blood and urine tests throughapprenticeshipprogram.
+ Acquireknowledge of lab equipment and testing to perform quality control tests.
+ Acquireknowledge of medical terminology to communicate with lab staff.
+ Acquireknowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumesrequiredfor specimen collection.
+ Acquireskills inoperatinga variety of laboratory instruments.
+ Acquireskills in preparing labels and written reportsutilizingthe results of lab tests
+ Establish work relationships with patients and healthcare professionals
Requirements for the Role:
+ High School diploma or GED equivalent isrequired
+ Commit to the TN College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Phlebotomy Program
+ Commit toan initialwork schedule of Monday – Thursday - day shift;Friday’sin the classroom at TN College of Applied Technology (TCAT)
+ Be willing to convert to an open shift (Days, Evenings or Nights) upon completion of program
