Job Summary and Qualifications
1. Position Summary:
TheSterile ProcessingDirectorprovides leadership through planning,organizing,monitoringand evaluating the SPDdepartment’sservice level to all areas of the hospital. Responsibilities include fiscal, Human Resource and operational functions. The SPDDirectormaintains24-hour accountability for services provided by the department. Thedirectorperforms delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care atHCAHealthONEPresbyterian St. Luke’s and Rocky Mountain Children’sanddisplays a positive support for the values and missionof the facility.Thedirectoris responsible forthe overall quality of all functions of thesterileprocessingdepartmentincludingeach surgical services area,including:quality ofdecontamination, qualityand accuracyof re-setting ofall instrument setsfor all departmentsas well asall procedures trays/instrument sets used in the hospital. The SPDDirectorwill provide customer service directly to physicians and interface with them to address quality issues with instrument sets.
1. Position Requirements:
1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Central Service Certification.(CSPT, CRCST, and/or CIS)
Education:
Graduation from an Accredited High School or GED. Completion of surgical tech training at an accredited schoolorappropriate jobexperience.Bachelor’s degree preferred.
1. Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of sterile processing leadership.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates understanding of Health Care from an organizational system perspective. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the processesrequiredin an SPD. Demonstrates the ability to plan and provide for the delivery of all SPD services. Ability to communicate withdepartmentmanagers and staff tomaintainconstructive relationships. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Participates in counseling and guidance of personnelas well as probationary and annual evaluations.
