WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Buyer/Planner at PennEngineering supports manufacturing by ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. This role collaborates with internal teams and suppliers to meet customer demand, production needs, and inventory goals using MRP/MPS planning tools, focusing on supplier performance, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

+ Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, and finished goods based on MRP and MPS requirements.

+ Manage inventory parameters such as EOQ, lead times, and safety stock to meet service levels and targets.

+ Monitor purchase orders from issuance to delivery, addressing delays and changes in demand.

+ Collaborate with Production Planning, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure achievable master production schedules.

+ Work with logistics partners for on-time delivery and efficient shipment tracking.

+ Maintain strong supplier relationships for competitive pricing and quality.

+ Identify new suppliers to enhance cost, quality, and supply continuity.

+ Analyze reports to identify risks and opportunities, communicating findings to stakeholders.

+ Support continuous improvement in planning accuracy and supplier performance.

+ Serve as backup to the Production Planner when needed.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

+ 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing with purchasing, planning, or supply chain responsibilities.

+ APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) preferred.

+ Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably JD Edwards (JDE).

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments.

+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

+ Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment for a standard workday.

+ Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.

+ Visual acuity required for detailed data review and analysis.

+ Occasional travel by car or air to visit suppliers or vendors may be required.
