    Job Description:

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    Develop and implement a regional product stewardship program to drive consistency throughout the Americas Carbon Fiber and Composites businesses (MCCFC).

     

    Perform technical activities leading to product regulatory compliance, assessment of product safety to human health and the environment, liability avoidance, and product responsibility issues concerning existing or new chemicals, materials, products, or hard goods.

     

    Contribute to the timely introduction of new/modified products. This includes developing product risk assessments, building and maintaining product Life Cycle Assessments. Working with suppliers to obtain relevant data for these assessments.

     

    Maintain and expand in-depth knowledge of global regulatory requirements and develop business processes to ensure assessment and compliance with requirements.

     

    Work with the MCCFC Product Line teams to complete global filings/registrations as necessary, submitting regional filings and ensure proper product labeling (TSCA, RoHS Worldwide, WEEE, state waste recycling programs, eWaste, heavy metals, REACH, etc.).

     

    Complete requests for regulatory documents such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Environmental Data Sheets (EDS), etc. Ensure compliance with Global GHS standards in developing and authoring SDS and EDS.

     

    Recognize and anticipate global product regulatory trends, emerging issues and customer expectations to ensure effective management of the assigned product portfolio, and for the timely management of regulatory requirements for hazard communication processes in the Americas. Work with commercial and operational leadership to ensure regulatory changes and trends are strategically integrated and communicated.

     

    Work collaboratively with the MCG business global Product Stewardship team to ensure product hazard classification and health and safety labeling requirements are harmonized across the MCCFC businesses.

     

    Assist logistics team to ensure the transit of raw materials and products across jurisdiction and borders does not result in business disruption.

     

    Work with sites and customers to ensure safe handling guidance is fully implemented and that business policies are adhered to ensure the safe handling and distribution of MCCFC marketed products.

     

    Serve as MCCFC representative and contribute to the sector group advocacy activities (Carbon fiber value chain) including providing input on budgets and technical programs on behalf of MCCFC.

     

    Serve as the technical expert and leader for transport of hazardous goods regulations, establishing and maintaining a management system, responding to customer enquiries, and providing training to the MCCFC operations and the logistics functions.

     

    Facilitate and manage chemical and physical studies for fulfilment of regulatory, NGO, and customer requirements and drivers.

     

    Work with the Customer Service Teams to review and interpret customer inquiries related to technical regulatory issues. Manage responses to customer enquiries regarding product safety and regulatory compliance.

     

    Take the initiative to proactively encourage cross-functional support and relationships to more effectively resolve regulatory requirements in support of meeting the company’s plans and objectives.

    SPECIAL FEATURES:

    The MCCFC manufacturing sites are complex, high hazard facilities and as such are highly regulated by external authorities and require strict adherence to process safety requirements as well as all other aspects of EH&S.

    KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

    Education:

    + Degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental health science, toxicology, regulatory affairs, or related technical discipline required.

    + Advanced degree in similar disciplines is strongly desired

    + A fundamental understanding of chemistry as it relates to product formulation and component reactivity as well as hazard classification and toxicology.

    Experience:

    + Minimum 5 years of product stewardship and US regulatory experience is required.

    + 7-10 years of product stewardship and US regulatory experience is strongly desired

    + Experience working in a chemical/industrial manufacturing environment required.

    + Knowledge and experience of chemical substance regulations, transport regulations, and regulatory reporting in the Americas are required.

    Skills:

    + Ability to interpret legislation, critically assess risk, communicate a range of potential impacts and formulate compliance solutions.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate actionable requirements and issues across to the business, through an economic lens.

    + Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment, building consensus, and exerting influence to achieve informed decision-making and resolution of challenges.

    + Demonstrated program and project management skills.

    + Familiarity, and ability to work with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.

    Other:

    + Ability to develop professional relationships with local regulatory authorities, industrial associations, trade groups, customers and other stakeholders.

    + Willingness to travel to our manufacturing sites or other locations as needed (<40%).

     

    The salary range for this position i** s **$110K-$140** **. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
