The **Director, Business Development- Building Software Platforms** will be responsible for defining, developing, and executing strategic initiatives to drive significant revenue growth, market expansion, and portfolio evolution. This involves identifying new market opportunities, cultivating high-value partnerships, and collaborating closely with Product, Sales, and Engineering teams to commercialize innovative software solutions that enhance building efficiency, sustainability, and occupant experience.
You will report directly to the **VP General Manager of Services and Software** , and you’ll work out of our **Atlanta, GA** location on a **Hybrid** work schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Develop and execute the 3-5 year strategic growth plan (STRAP) for the Building Software Platform portfolio, aligned with the Portfolio Leader’s vision.
+ Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and customer segmentation to identify new revenue streams, business models, and unmet customer needs.
+ Synthesize market and technology insights to recommend investment priorities for new offerings, platforms, and geographic expansion.
+ Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic alliances, joint ventures, and technology partnerships with key players in the commercial real estate, energy, and smart building ecosystems.
+ Manage and nurture relationships with strategic partners to ensure successful collaboration and achievement of co-developed goals.
+ Collaborate with Product and Sales to define the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for new EBI updates/enhancements, including market pricing, positioning, and channel strategy.
+ Develop robust business cases (including financial models, ROI analysis, and risk assessments) to support new product development, service launches, and investment decisions.
+ Support the global sales organization with high-level strategic customer engagement on complex, multi-solution opportunities and large-scale digital transformation projects.
+ Provide regular, concise updates on business development progress, market trends, and strategic recommendations to the Vice President of Services and Software and other executive leadership.
MUST HAVE
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
+ Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Business Development, Corporate Strategy, or Sales, with a focus on technology products or software.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically within the Building Automation, HVAC, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), or Enterprise Software industries, with deep knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS).
+ Proven track record of successfully identifying, negotiating, and closing complex, strategic partnerships or deals that resulted in significant revenue growth.
+ Strong financial acumen, including the ability to develop comprehensive business cases, conduct valuation analysis, and understand profitability drivers.
+ Excellent executive-level communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
+ Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

+ Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree.
+ Prior experience in a global, highly matrixed organization, particularly within a technology or industrial conglomerate.
+ Deep technical understanding of modern cloud-based software, SaaS models, data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as applied to the built environment.
+ Established network and strong relationships with key decision-makers (e.g., C-suite, CTOs, VPs of Operations/IT) in large commercial real estate owners, facility management companies, or utilities.
