JOB SPECIFICS
The position will supervise the Adolescent Services Unit in the Children's Division. Duties of staff in the unit include on-going child protection, child welfare services, and transition age youth work. The work is fast paced and involves a mix of court and non-court involved families, kids in out-of-home placement, title IV-E reimbursement and coordination with Children’s Mental Health.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
+ Work experience providing leadership of staff as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead or leading a program/committee
+ Paid work experience in child protection
+ Working knowledge of Minnesota statutes, rules and policies regarding child protection and child welfare services
+ Work experience participating in diversity, equity and inclusion work

HOURS / DAYS: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.
ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $93,017.60 - $127,004.80 Annually

JOB SUMMARY
The Social Services Supervisor is responsible for the administration and supervision of Community Services programs, the interpretation, assessment and recommendation of policies and the supervision of assigned staff. Work may be assigned within different community service areas and have differing missions and goals.
EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field (public administration, public health, community health, environmental health, nursing, behavioral science etc.) and five years of full-time professional work experience in a public human services/public health agency and/or a private human services/public health agency that contracts services with a public agency, or equivalent. A Master's Degree in Social Work or related field may substitute for up to one year of required Social Worker experience. Additional requirements for specific unit assignments may be identified when a vacancy occurs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide program administration:
• Develop and administer Community Services programs and set standards,
• Implement, monitor and evaluate procedures;
• Prepare and administer budgets for assigned services;
• Develop plans for specialized program grants;
• Monitor unit budgets;
• Review service trends to help project expenses;
• Authorize service expenditures;
• Compile program statistical activity reports;
• Assist in development, implementation and monitoring of program/client data;
• Develop, coordinate and monitor working agreements and contracts with service providers;
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations and stay current on what related agencies are doing;
• Interpret and implement state and federal rules and regulations;
• Recommend policies and develop programs and procedures required to carry out objectives and requirements;
• Coordinate, lead and/or participate on task force committees and multi-disciplinary teams at the state and local level to represent County program needs;
• Provide information, education and policy recommendations on service programs for stakeholders needing program expertise in policy setting; and
• Participate in agency management policy and program development via scheduled management meetings, program proposal evaluation, team meetings and other management team activities.
• Provides clinical supervision as a licensed mental health professional, program supervision and case consultation to staff.
Supervise assigned staff:
• Interview and make staff recommendations;
• Create and manage work schedules;
• Provide work direction and review work for accuracy;
• Provide program supervision, clinical supervision and case consultation to staff;
• Develop and facilitate staff training;
• Guide staff through changes in laws, processes, services or programs;
• Respond to grievances or special issues; and
• Conduct performance reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Sedentary work involving office and limited fieldwork. Lifting requirement may include occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. Exposures to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and persons with behavioral challenges are rare to occasional in nature. Use of general office equipment to include, but not be limited to: personal, lap top, or handheld computers, pagers, cellular phone, telephone, fax and copy machines, calculator, audio and video recording equipment. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
