    Job Summary

    The Department of Language, Culture, and the Arts, and the Communication discipline in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applicants for a LEO Lecturer I, non-tenure-track appointment which begins January 1, 2026, through April 30, 2026, for the Fall 2025 term. Contractual full-time rate per term is $25,500; term salary is dependent on number of courses taught and the course effort percentage, up to 66.66% appointment for the Fall 2025 term. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching face-to-face and online for these two courses:

     

    ARBC 101; Introduction to Arabic Language and Culture 1, a 4 credit-hour course at 33.33% effort

     

    First course in the two-course elementary Arabic sequence. Listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and culture are emphasized. Course materials promote the use of language to communicate with others and function in Arabic culture. This is an online course.

     

    ARBC 102; Beginning Arabic II, a 4 credit-hour course at 33.33% effort

     

    Second course in the two-course elementary sequence. Continued emphasis on culture and the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is an online course.

    Required Qualifications*

    ? Native or near-native language proficiency

    ? At least three years of experience teaching upper-level French courses in literature and culture at the post-secondary level

    ? ABD or currently in a Ph.D. program

    ? Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching college-level courses in Arabic

     

    The successful candidate must be able to teach all levels (Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced) of Arabic courses, including courses in the above areas of specialization. The successful candidate must show potential for and commitment to teaching in a communicative-based language program, as well as working with talented and diverse students at the undergraduate level. Familiarity with the technology for language teaching is highly desirable.
