The Power Commercial Coordinator will interface and lead power supply initiatives across Chevron’s Shale & Tight Business (S&TB), collaborating cross-functionally within and outside the organization. This role is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and selecting power supply alternatives for upstream regions and development assets. The Coordinator will drive strategy, reliability, and third-party relationships to ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective power solutions.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Third-Party Interface:
+ Serve as the primary interface with power utilities for S&TB.
+ Manage relationships, negotiations, and contracts with utilities; project manage new or changing connections for service.
+ Coordinate with asset, operations, and technical teams to deliver consistent and prioritized messaging to utilities.
+ Evaluate and select alternative solutions to grid power, including behind-the-meter (BTM) providers, when timing or costs require it.
+ Lead external discussions and negotiations with third-party companies.
+ Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset to develop solutions when typical connection alternatives are unavailable.
Power Supply Strategy:
+ Set power supply strategy and plans at asset, development area, project, region, and S&TB levels.
+ Collaborate with Chevron Supply and Trading Power Commercial, Chevron Strategy and Sustainability, Chevron New Energies Power Solutions, and S&TB organizations to develop and evaluate alternatives to grid power.
+ Represent Chevron in relevant trade organizations to support power-related advocacy efforts.
Power Reliability:
+ Support production reliability efforts as the Power subject matter expert for the Commercial team.
+ Work with power providers for S&TB activities and facilities to minimize downtime.
+ Collaborate with oil, gas, and water midstream providers to address power supply concerns and minimize lost or deferred production.
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Minimum of 3+ years’ work experience in the Power industry
+ Experience managing and developing relationships with utility providers, and/or behind the meter power providers
+ Experience leading and negotiating commercial transactions and project development
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; proven collaboration with cross-functional team members.
+ High ownership, integrity, and bias for action; ability to prioritize, adapt, and deliver results under time pressure.
+ Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Passion for innovation and continuous improvement
+ Demonstrated record of delivering superior business results and ability to develop strategic plans and establish high value commercial agreements.
+ Ability to communicate at multiple levels of the organization; articulate a strategy through excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Experience in evaluating commercial and technical opportunities and developing economically viable solutions to support power needs
+ Ability to provide insights on strategic matters impacting assets and development plans including identifying asset and regional level risks and mitigations.
+ Delivers work, individually and through teams. Identify impactful data for decision making and track performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Accounting, Business, Economics
+ Master’s degree in relevant field
+ Negotiations experience with Interconnection agreements
+ Electrical or Facilities Engineering experience
+ Upstream oil and gas experience in the Bakken, Denver-Julesburg (DJ), or Permian Basins
