What We Want
The Assistant Athletics Director provides critical support to the Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services in the operation and advancement of the Center for Student-Athlete Services. This role leads designated staff, oversees academic support functions for Football, and ensures full compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional standards. The position also serves as the Scholastic Supervisor for Football, managing all aspects of academic monitoring, eligibility, and student-athlete development.

Responsibilities
Academic Advising & Student-Athlete Support:
+ · Serve as the scholastic supervisor for Football student-athletes.
+ · Evaluate academic strengths, challenges, and support needs; recommend participation in the learning center.
+ · Continuously monitor progress toward degree completion and maintain accurate academic records in alignment with NCAA and conference standards.
+ · Assist in determining eligibility status and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
+ · Participate in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and advise on academic opportunities.
+ · Provide guidance to student-athletes on major selection and academic planning.
Staff Supervision & Unit Operations:
+ · Assist with oversight and execution of Center for Student-Athlete Services initiatives.
+ · Supervise designated full-time staff—such as scholastic supervisors, athletic assistants, and student interns—ensuring performance excellence.
+ · Conduct performance evaluations and manage staff attendance and leave within SSO.
+ · Coordinate with the Associate AD for Academics to deliver training and professional development.
+ · Maintain ongoing communication with the Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services regarding personnel matters, student-athlete concerns, eligibility issues, and compliance topics.
+ · Serve in additional roles as assigned to support departmental collaboration, communication, and efficiency.
+ · Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and student-centered service within the academic unit.
+ Monitoring, Reporting & Eligibility Management:
+ · Evaluate academic credentials of prospective student-athletes and provide informed recommendations to coaching staff.
+ · Guide prospects through admissions and NCAA Eligibility Center processes.
+ · Manage initial eligibility reviews and academic evaluations for reporting purposes.
+ · Lead the development and maintenance of internal policies and procedures related to academic support.
+ · Oversee all eligibility training and reporting required by the university, conference, and NCAA; prepare materials for dissemination by the Associate AD.
Campus & Departmental Collaboration:
+ · Build and maintain strong partnerships with key campus units to enhance student-athlete success initiatives.
+ · Work collaboratively with academic staff to increase visibility, awareness, and utilization of campus resources.
+ · Contribute to the development of programs and protocols that strengthen academic support for student-athletes.
Compliance Oversight:
+ · Maintain comprehensive knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
+ · Ensure all supervised staff and student workers understand and comply with applicable policies.
+ · Collaborate closely with the Compliance Office to support accuracy and adherence in all academic processes.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
+ . Bachelor’s Degree.
+ . Four years of professional experience in academic advising, student-athlete academic support, higher education student services, or athletics administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ · Master’s Degree.
+ · Experience serving as a scholastic supervisor or primary academic advisor for Football.
+ · Experience directly supervising full-time staff.
+ · Experience managing initial eligibility evaluations and NCAA Eligibility Center processes.
+ · Experience participating in prospective student-athlete recruitment from an academic standpoint.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ · Working knowledge of NCAA academic eligibility and progress-toward-degree requirements.
+ · Experience monitoring academic progress and maintaining academic records in compliance with institutional and NCAA standards.
+ · Demonstrated ability to advise students on academic planning, major selection, and degree completion.
+ · Experience collaborating with coaches, academic units, and campus partners.
+ · Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations accurately.
+ · Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ · Proficiency with student information systems and academic tracking platforms.
