Description:
Position Summary for Surgical Technologist,** **Obstetrical
Assists the Physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) and nursing personnel before, during and after deliveries.
Inventories, rotates, maintains, and restocks supplies, instruments and equipment in appropriate areas as needed.
Picks up and delivers specimens, equipment, meal trays, blood products and stat pharmacy orders.
Answers telephone takes and relays messages, and sorts and files reports.
•Answers patient call lights, takes patient vital signs and assists with patient hygiene as directed by an RN.
What the Surgical Technologist, ST will do:
Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, surgical hand scrub, surgical gowning of self and team, surgical gloving of self and team, boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas, and traffic patterns.
Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and problem resolution for parameter failure.
What the Surgical Technologist, ST will need:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program; or six years of surgical tech experience
_Preferred_** **; Certified Surg Tech and Associates Degree in Surgical Technology
_Preferred_** **; One year Surg Tech experience
What the Surgical Tech will work:
-24 hours per month minimum
-days and night shifts available
