Description
The Amazon Fresh Grocery team is seeking an exceptionally motivated and talented Manager, Macro Space with strong customer focus, analytical skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit. In this role, you will lead the strategy to define how categories are allocated space in stores and other grocery facilities to maximize customer experience and business impact. You will partner cross-functionally across category management, merchandising, Store Development, technology, and other teams to build and optimize the strategy using data and customer insights.
The ideal candidate will have strong customer experience intuition, business and product sense combined with solid understanding of technical concepts. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. High judgment, ability to influence, analytical talent, exceptional communications, and leadership are essential to success in this role.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead development of the strategy for category space allocation across the One Grocery network using data and customer insights
• Act as the 'business owner', possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact our business and serve as the key stakeholder representing the function in the store design process
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate program updates with internal and external stakeholders, including leading leadership reviews
• Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed goals
• Drive automation and leverage AI tools to simplify space planning processes and improve operational efficiency
• Lead a team of space planning professionals to deliver results in an ambitious, fast-paced environment
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 5+ years of team management experience
- 5+ years of experience using Microsoft Excel, and space planning software (e.g., Blue Yonder, CAD, Revit)
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in merchandising, space optimization, and/or store planning
- 5+ years of experience in business roles requiring data analysis, process improvements, creative problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience in marketing or customer experience roles requiring data analysis and process optimization
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Passionate and knowledgeable about customer behavior
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- Familiarity with databases and SQL
- Experience leveraging automation and AI tools to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency
- Ability to analyze data quantitatively and use customer research, data, and metrics to back up assumptions, identify opportunities, and assess the efficacy of merchandising programs
- Experience creating and/or improving operational processes across teams and stakeholders with bias toward automation
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
- Comfortable with a varied set of software and editing tools with ability to learn new tools quickly

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $189,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
