Job Description

Join a dynamic print shop specializing in a variety of print products including election cards, shirt branding, baby shower invites, business cards, and ballot printing. As a Print Operator, you will learn to set up and operate a range of equipment throughout the production facility, including digital presses, perforators, encoders, and various bindery and mailing equipment. Your role is essential in maintaining safety practices and procedures while working closely with the Print Production Supervisor to master management, workflow, and scheduling processes. You will also be responsible for understanding equipment and product standards, writing production job tickets, and assisting in creating working copies for production personnel.

Responsibilities

+ Operate and set up digital press, perforators, encoders, and various bindery and mailing equipment.

+ Maintain safety practices and procedures.

+ Collaborate with the Print Production Supervisor to learn management, workflow, and scheduling.

+ Understand equipment, product standards, and specifications.

+ Produce accurate estimates and write production job tickets.

+ Pull repeat jobs and assist in creating working copies for production personnel.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with machine operating and press operating.

+ Mechanically inclined with skills in print, packaging, and production.

+ Minimum of 1 year experience as a machine operator required.

+ General math skills, including measurements and fractions.

+ Ability to stand 80% of the day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High School Diploma required.

+ 1+ years of print experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment

Work hours are from 6am to 3:30pm or 7am to 4:30pm. The team consists of 27 individuals, with 18 working on the floor. The small plant environment emphasizes strong cultural values and accountability. The building is older, embodying an old-school shop atmosphere, yet it is maintained clean and orderly. The dress code includes closed-toed tennis shoes, a t-shirt, and jeans.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterloo, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
