Job Profile** **Summary
•This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Anesthesia related duties: Provides anesthesia for patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures while monitoring the patient’s condition and supporting vital organ functions. Responsibilities also include diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and/or cancer pain as well as provide resuscitation and medical management for patients with critical illnesses and severe injuries. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that supervises all levels of employees. Responsibilities that typically include: Setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results, problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex, and ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
Job Overview
This position has overall responsibility for communication, scheduling, and oversight that pertain to the patient flow, supplies, and equipment as well as the patient experience in a complex surgical environment. Works to assure timely arrival of patients, care of the patients in clinical settings, ordering of supplies, and communication regarding case add-ons, emergencies, and special case requests.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications** **:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent training.
3. One (1) year of supervisory or management experience in related role or environment including previous experience working as an Anesthesia Tech within an Operating Room Environment.
**Duties and Responsibilities** **:** The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Collaborates with Nursing Professional Practice Leader on current standards.
2. Evaluates clinical practice of Critical Care Techs (CCTs) and Medical Assistants (MAs) to assure clinical tasks are performed according to policies and procedures.
3. Performs all personnel-related functions including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance appraisals, coaching/counseling, educating, and progressive discipline.
4. Evaluates the surgical schedule to determine needed personnel and equipment.
5. Ensures excellence in quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
6. Leads performance improvement initiatives with demonstrated quality outcomes.
7. Assists leadership team with strategic initiatives regarding process improvement efforts with a focus on safety and efficiency.
8. Performs regular rounding on team members and patients per established guidelines.
9. Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment. Adheres to policies and procedures and is a role model for excellence.
10. Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
11. Provides in-servicing as needed.
12. Participates and leads in all aspects of regulatory readiness, including auditing and maintenance of database tracking.
13. Creates tools, collect data, analyze data, and communicate outcomes.
Physical Requirements** **:
1. Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
2. Ability to lift, reach, carry, push and pull 40-50 lbs or more.
3. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and/or crouching
4. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances, noise and possible exposure to radiation, lasers, electric shock, etc.
5. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases and other transmissible infections.
6. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances.
7. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
8. May have contact with hazardous materials.
9. Ability to speak and hear effectively and meet telephone and customer service standards.
10. Expression by means of spoken words to communication oral information to customers accurately, quickly, and loudly enough in the English language.
11. Ability to perceive sounds such as phones ringing, beepers, alarms and buzzers.
12. Clarity of both near and far vision.
13. Ability to stand/sit combination of eight (8) hours or length of assignment. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfer patients and equipment.
14. Ability to distinguish color, i.e. alarms and buzzers on equipment, and color codes on instrumentation.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Possesses and applies the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
2. Ability to assist in providing care for a designated group of patients under the direction of a licensed nurse and according to unit guidelines hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to perform in stressful situations and handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining a positive and approachable demeanor.
5. Knowledge of computer systems and software with ability to learn and retain new applications.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer systems.
7. Has the skills and knowledge to provide care to the age groups of the population served including: Knowledge of growth and development and Provide age-appropriate communication.
