    Position Overview: Geotechnical Engineer – Mining & Infrastructure

    The Geotechnical Engineer plays a critical role in designing and delivering engineering solutions that support mining operations and strategic objectives. This position focuses on projects related to clay disposal, dragline crossings, infrastructure corridors, and other geotechnical aspects of mining. Success in this role requires daily collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers, regulatory agencies, mine operators, and leadership.

    Key Responsibilities

    Engineering Design & Support: Lead the development of preliminary and detailed designs for mining and geotechnical infrastructure projects that align with operational goals.

     

    Data Analysis & Communication: Gather, analyze, and communicate technical data and engineering recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.

     

    Technical Evaluation: Conduct and review engineering analyses addressing soil mechanics, structural systems (concrete and steel), and water management challenges.

     

    Project Coordination: Collaborate with consulting engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely and effective delivery of engineering solutions.

     

    Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with applicable federal regulations (MSHA, USACE, NPDES), Florida DEP Rules 62-672, and county permit conditions.

     

    Internal Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments to ensure engineering designs meet regulatory and operational requirements.

     

    Monitoring & Operations Support: Assist in the operation and monitoring of civil infrastructure throughout mining sites.

     

    Risk & Decision Analysis: Apply sound engineering judgment to evaluate design alternatives, balancing risk, cost, and schedule considerations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mining Engineering.

     

    Experience as a mine engineer, regulatory professional, or engineering consultant within the mining industry.

     

    Strong background in geotechnical engineering, design, and construction oversight specific to mining projects.

     

    Familiarity with permitting processes, environmental and safety regulations, and water management practices in mining.

     

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.

     

    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

     

    Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders.

     

    Preferred qualifications include graduate-level coursework, professional engineering licensure, and experience in project management and construction monitoring.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Bowling Green, FL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
