    Postdoctoral Associate

     

    Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

     

    PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Biological Anthropology, Biology, Psychology, or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Expertise in at least one of the following areas: DNA extraction and sequencing from non-invasively collected fecal samples; extraction and analysis of endocrine and immune biomarkers from non-invasively collected samples such as urine and fecal matter; analysis of complex demographic and genomic datasets; experience collecting primate behavioral and demographic data in international field settings; or phylogenetic comparative methods.

     

    **Brief Description of Duties** :

    A one-year NSF-funded Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Lu Lab in the Department of Anthropology at Stony Brook University. The position is funded by a grant awarded to Drs. Amy Lu (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/anthropology/faculty-and-staff/lu-a.php) and Carrie Mongle (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/anthropology/faculty-and-staff/mongle-c.php) by the National Science Foundation to study multisystem aging in wild geladas. Although housed at Stony Brook, the Postdoctoral Associate will be co-advised by Drs. Amy Lu (Stony Brook University), Carrie Mongle (Stony Brook University) and Noah Snyder-Mackler (Arizona State University), and will spend time at Stony Brook and ASU. The successful applicant must have strong quantitative and verbal communication skills (written and oral), a strong work ethic, and some experience with endocrine and/or genomic methods. Familiarity with phylogenetic comparative methods would also be valued.

    Duties of the Postdoctoral Associate include:

    • Wet lab and quantitative analyses of endocrine and genomic datasets.

    • Compilation and analysis of comparative datasets on primate aging.

    • Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals.

    • Presentation of results at professional meetings.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
