    About the Role

     

    We’re seeking an experienced Credit Underwriter to issue credit decisions on residential mortgage loans in alignment with program guidelines and client requirements. This role is project‑based and ideal for professionals who thrive in fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environments and can deliver accuracy under pressure.

     

    As a Transactional Employee, work assignments are based on client demand. While efforts will be made to provide consistent work, hours may vary, and there may be occasional periods without assignments.

    What You’ll Do

    + Underwrite residential mortgage loans in accordance with Conventional guidelines.

    + Analyze borrower profiles using Loan Prospector, Desktop Underwriter, AssetWise, and other AUS engines.

    + Review credit reports, liabilities, judgments, and collections to assess risk and fraud exposure.

    + Evaluate residential mortgage appraisals and calculate Loan‑to‑Value ratios.

    + Analyze income sources (salaried, commissioned, self‑employed, investments) and asset statements.

    + Meet daily production goals, clear conditions, and maintain audit standards.

    + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Truth in Lending and Equal Credit Opportunity laws.

    + Perform additional duties as assigned, including overtime/weekends when needed.

    Required Qualifications

    + Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.

    + Experience:

    + 3+ years of frontline underwriting experience (manual and automated) with Conventional, FHA, VA, QM, and Non‑QM products.

    + 3+ years securitization experience.

    + Strong knowledge of A Paper, B/C Paper, Non‑Conforming, and Sub‑Prime residential products.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    + Expertise in Desktop Underwriter (DU), Loan Prospector (LP), and LOS platforms.

    + In‑depth understanding of HVCC guidelines, closing procedures, RESPA, and fraud audit processes.

    + Ability to work in a fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment with excellent prioritization skills.

    + Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $83200.00/yr.
