Position Description
Are you interested in a job that supports the people who are on the front lines of providing public health services to the citizens of our community? This position Oversees and participates in cleaning and maintenance of public buildings and grounds. This position will report to the Facilities Services Manager and/or receive instructions from the Facilities Maintenance Specialist.

Typical Duties
+ Overseas and participates in all cleaning activities.
+ Sweeps and mops floors and stairways.
+ Strips, waxes, and buffs floors.
+ Maintains furniture, carpets, and fixtures.
+ Empties trash containers.
+ Cleans and restocks restrooms.
+ Prepare rooms for meetings and banquets.
+ May oversee and participate in maintenance of the grounds.
+ Remove all litter and debris from the ground.
+ Mows grass and trims bushes and hedges.
+ Salts and shovels snow and ice.
+ Keeps outside area in good repair.
+ May perform basic administrative duties.
+ Requisitions maintenance supplies.
+ Submits requests for major repairs.
+ Checks for break-ins and signs of attempted break-ins and vandalism.
+ May move, load, or unload heavy objects, supplies, or other materials.
+ May deliver and distribute mail or run errands
+ Keeps complete records.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Eighth Grade Education and three (3) years of general custodial and/or maintenance experience
Valid driver's license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of the equipment, materials, and methods used in custodial work.
+ Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
+ Knowledge of purchasing requirements.
+ Skill in the use of cleaning and/or lawn care equipment.
+ Ability to maintain adequate supplies.
+ Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
+ Ability to maintain accurate records.
+ Ability to coordinate and participate in maintenance assignments.
+ Ability to train employees.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Working Environment/Physical Demands:
May be required to travel to various locations to perform assigned duties. Requires some physical exertion such as walking, climbing, bending, stooping, stretching, or similar activities Involves moderate risks or discomforts involved with working in and around public buildings. Employees are exposed to a variety of cleaning chemicals which require special safety precautions. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, coats, goggles, gloves, or shields.
