    The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.

     

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and organizedAccountant Administrator IIto support day-to-day accounting and administrative operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, and assisting with budget tracking and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team. Prior accounting or administrative experience and proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets are preferred.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Eight years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

     

    Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

     

    A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

    A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

     

    An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

     

    Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    *Oversees the total budget for the LA Special School District.

    * Administers the financial accounting and management systems of SSD.

    * Establishes and issues fiscal policies.

    * Provides assistance to the executive management team.

    * Reviews and interprets federal and state legislation for budgetary purposes.

    Position-Specific Details:

    Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. The chosen application will be required to take a probationary appointment.

     

    Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday - Friday.
