Job Description
The Technology Leader will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between traditional building automation systems (BAS) and modern IT infrastructure for a company specializing in packaging controls for commercial spaces. This position is based in Arlington Heights and focuses on integrating web-based control systems, ensuring cybersecurity, and supporting eight physical locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for communicating with IT personnel, training customers, and driving the adoption of new technologies that enhance building efficiency and performance. Skills and Requirements
Must-Have Requirements
Niagara Certification: Demonstrated experience and certification in Niagara systems, with the ability to integrate and troubleshoot BAS controls as they relate to HVAC.
IT Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong understanding of web services, cloud-based applications, routers, switches, virtual machines, redundant servers, and general IT networking concepts.
Cybersecurity Awareness: Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and the ability to communicate with IT departments to set up secure networks.
Training & Communication Skills: Ability to train customers and internal teams on new technologies, and to translate complex technical concepts into accessible information for various audiences.
Problem-Solving Mindset: Sees challenges as puzzles to solve, with a passion for improving building efficiency and performance.
Self-Starter: Able to work independently, get up to speed quickly (within three months), and take initiative in a dynamic environment.
Location & Travel: Based in Arlington Heights, with limited travel (primarily for training, trade shows, or customer visits within WI, IL, MO, and occasional trips to Kansas City). Exposure to commercial building controls, HVAC, or related fields, and an understanding of the unique needs of building engineers, management companies, and owners.
Interest in both the mechanical and IT sides of building systems, with a “big picture” perspective on how technology can drive business value.
