Position Summary
Red Cat is seeking a First Person View (FPV) Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Flight Instructor to join our team to design and deliver training programs, conduct product demonstrations, and ensuring continuous improvement in training methodologies while adhering to strict safety protocols, with a remote work structure requiring 65% travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Operate FPV in the field and ensure all flight and ground operations follow established procedures. Additionally, provide demonstrations and represent the company at tradeshows to highlight operational capabilities and showcase company product offerings.
+ Deliver FPV training courses (theory and practical) to ensure comprehensive understanding and skill development across all aspects of FPV operations, including aircraft building and configuration, flight controller programming and tuning, flight procedures, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
+ Develop, implement, and continuously improve the FPV training curriculum to ensure high standards of training delivery and operational excellence.
+ Coordinate and actively participate in ground and flight operations, including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety oversight.
+ Prepare and brief Mission Packets, reviewing weather, NOTAMS, and SPINS for conflicts, while understanding and integrating sUAS operations within the local Airspace Control Plan (ACP).
+ Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
+ Ensures compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Required Qualifications
+ Possess a current FAA Part 107 license.
+ Associate’s degree in Aviation, Business, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
+ Former Special Operations operator with 5+ years of experience in an elite military unit, including Army Special Forces or Rangers, Air Force Special Tactics, Navy SEALs, or Marine Reconnaissance.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience operating, maintaining, and integrating sUAS in tactical, commercial, or research applications.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in sUAS flight training, instructing both novice and advanced operators in flight operations, mission planning, sensor integration, and emergency procedures. Proficient in developing training curricula, lesson plans, and evaluation standards to ensure compliance with FAA Part 107, military, and law enforcement UAS guidelines.
+ Minimum of 3 years leading a team, element, or section conducting special operations integrated with sUAS operations, overseeing mission planning, execution, and after-action reviews in high-stakes environments.
+ Candidate must be available to work overtime and may be required to work on both short-term and long-term projects away from home.
+ Demonstrated team player with eligibility for a DoD Secret security clearance, requiring US citizenship and a current passport.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
+ Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
+ Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.
+ May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations.
+ Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
+ Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed
+ Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.

Compensation: Salary plus generous annual equity package and potential bonuses
Qualifications
Requirements:
+ Possess a current FAA Part 107 license.
+ Minimum of 4-8 years of military experience or equivalent training in aerospace.
+ Outstanding leadership, managerial, and organizational skills with excellent presentation and interpersonal abilities.
+ Ability to lead, train, and mentor small groups to meet course objectives.
+ Solid understanding of military tactics, operations, GPS, and navigation using map and compass.
+ Highly desirable prior experience as a military instructor or in Special Operations (e.g., Special Forces, SEAL, Special Tactics, Ranger, Force Recon, Scout, Forward Observer, TACP, Aviation).
+ Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
+ Must be available to work overtime and may be required to work on both short-term and long-term projects away from home.
+ Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle objects of varying sizes.
+ Accustomed to working in isolation and long, irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, in challenging environments.
+ Demonstrated team player with eligibility for a DoD Secret security clearance, requiring US citizenship and a current passport.
+ Prior hobby experience with First Person View (FPV) drones or Remote Controlled (RC) aircraft is helpful but not required.
