    Behavioral Interventionist - School Based Services

     

    As a Behavioral Interventionist on our School-Based Services Teams, you play a vital role in helping students overcome behavioral and emotional challenges so they can fully engage in learning and thrive both in school and beyond. Working alongside educators and mental health professionals, you provide hands-on, individualized support that promotes emotional regulation, builds positive relationships, and creates safe, inclusive learning environments. Your work directly supports students during the academic year and extends into a dynamic, community-based summer program—ensuring continuity of care and meaningful impact year-round. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Implement individualized behavioral support plans in collaboration with school staff and clinical teams.

    + Provide direct supervision and therapeutic support to students with challenging behaviors in school, community, and summer program settings.

    + Support students in developing social, emotional, and coping skills that increase engagement and success in learning environments.

    + Maintain clear, timely communication with parents, educators, and internal WCMHS staff.

    + Document services and observations accurately in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.

    + Participate as an active member of interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed care.

    + Assist with crisis prevention and intervention, including the safe implementation of restraint techniques when required.

    + Transport students as needed to support programming and services.

    Qualifications:

    Education

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    + Relevant post-secondary education in human services, education, psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.

    + Ongoing training in behavioral intervention, trauma-informed care, and related practices is provided and expected.

    Knowledge and Competencies:

    + Demonstrated experience providing direct supports or therapeutic services to children with challenging behaviors.

    + Basic understanding of trauma-informed care practices and child development.

    + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to build positive working relationships with students, families, school personnel, and multidisciplinary teams.

    + Commitment to WCMHS’s mission, vision, and values, including inclusion, self-determination, recovery, and compassionate, collaborative care.

    + Valid driver’s license, strong driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle.

    Compensation:

    This full-time position offers an hourly rate of $23.59 per hour and offers excellent benefits, including tuition reimbursement/student loan assistance; generous paid time off; employer-sponsored health, dental, life, and disability insurances; and a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer match.
