Who We Are

United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF).

The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option.

Program Details:

+ All internships are paid, up to 40 hours/week.

+ Interns are responsible for arranging their housing and transportation. A relocation stipend may be provided for non-local candidates. Determinations will be made on a case-by-case basis.

+ 2026 Internship Program Dates:

+ Monday May 18th to Friday August 14th

+ Monday June 1st to Friday August 28th

How you’ll contribute

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our dynamic Market Access team and gain an understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech field.  You will learn about the United Therapeutics business and how our Market Access team supports company objectives.  You will be immersed in a variety of projects and initiatives to support our business partner’s needs.

This position will rotate projects with 5 Directors on the Market Access team. These projects will assist Commercial Strategy, Health Policy and Pipeline Strategy, Payer Engagement, Pricing and Government Programs, and Data Analytics and Operations.

Key responsibilities include:

+ Transform manual Excel reports into automated dashboards via PowerBI/Tableau

+ Perform data validation to identify trends and outliers

+ Identify payer Reports for automation, consolidation, or for discontinuation

+ Build and catalog weekly, and monthly reports for Market Access and internal Business partners

+ Review and document key metrics/reports produced by Market Access and business partners

+ Support Market Access pricing, data, marketing, and account management teams on-going data needs.

+ Identify, review and document duplication, similar metrics, and KPIs

+ Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite in our Durham, NC office.

+ Perform all other duties as required

For this role you will need

Minimum Requirements

For Intern:

+ Must be a risingjunior or senior, enrolled in an accredited college/university, and be in good academic standing and pursuing a Bachelor’s in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related business discipline

For Advanced Intern:

+ Must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution, be in good academic standing, and pursuing a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related business discipline.

+ Must have experience with software such as PowerBI, Tableau, Microsoft Excel (pivot and basic formula), and Microsoft PowerPoint.

+ Must have demonstrated analytical skills and statistic knowledge, pay attention to detail, and be inquisitive.

+ Must be proficient in personal computers and network applications, and have an aptitude to learn new program features and application software.

+ Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite

+ Must be available to work 40 hours per week, hybrid onsite in the RTP Office (3 days per week)

The salary for the Intern position ranges from $22.50 to $24.50 per hour. The salary for the Advanced Intern position ranges from $26.50 to $32.50 per hour. The salary range is the range United Therapeutics Corporation in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
