Job Summary
PSEG is looking for a Summer 2026 Technical Intern for the Asset Management (Electric) – Technical Support Group. This job involves working as a technical analysist, problem solver, and field support specialist for high-voltage equipment. Our team is involved with all aspects of the business, including engineering design, equipment design specifications, procurement, construction support, field issues and assignments, investment decisions, data analysis, IT, and more. As part of this internship, you will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to facilitate various types of projects and understand key concepts of station design and high-voltage equipment functionality. PSE&G is a leading utility in reliability and electric modernization. In this internship, you will get involved in and observe how our company is (1) adapting to the changing load growth and demand within PSE&G’s New Jersey territory and (2) enhancing our electric stations through state-of-the-art monitoring systems. This position will be Hybrid Flexible Projects will primarily be performed remotely and travel will be required for field training, support. Intern will also be required to travel to several PSE&G locations throughout the state during the internship program.
Job Responsibilities
Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
+ Technical analysis: You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data from various high-voltage station equipment. This includes power transformers, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, overhead and underground cables, and other critical components. Your role will involve helping to develop actionable insights to optimizing equipment performance and key decisions.
+ Problem Solving: As part of the Asset Management Technical support team, you will play a role in diagnosing and solving technical challenges related to high-voltage equipment. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and develop solutions that enhance the reliability and efficiency of our power infrastructure.
+ Field Support Specialist: This internship will offer you the opportunity to participate in field visits to our facilities and substations. You will gain hands-on experience inspecting equipment, assisting with maintenance activities, and ensuring that our assets are in optimal condition.
Job Specific Qualifications
+ The successful inucmbent(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Electrical or Computer Engineering and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029.
+ Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Incumbents must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration.
+ Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.
+ Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
Desired
+ 3.0 GPA
+ Interest in power systems and data analysis.
+ Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior in an electrical or computer engineering program.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
+ Basic understanding of high-voltage station equipment is a plus.
+ Proficiency in Excel is a plus.
+ Must be eligible to travel as required.
All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Incumbents are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
