Overview
Novant Health is seeking a Patient Access Team Lead to support our Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center. This role ensures smooth, efficient, and high-quality operations while supporting departmental leadership in coordinating patient access functions—including scheduling, registration, phone operations, work queues, and financial processes. The Team Lead also provides direct support to Patient Access Specialists (PAS) and serves as a daily resource for problem resolution, training, and workflow optimization.

What You’ll Do
+ Assist department leadership in day-to-day operations and staff coordination
+ Assign appropriate staff based on department needs and workload
+ Ensure timely and accurate scheduling, registration, and collections
+ Verify and record patient demographics, insurance details, and charges accurately
+ Maintain high standards of productivity, efficiency, and service quality
+ Provide direct support to team members and help resolve operational issues
+ Participate in cross-training across multiple administrative support areas
What We're Looking For
+ Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree Associates Degree in business or related field, preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum 1 years experience in patient access, registration, billing, cash collections, insurance, or related experience in a medical environment. Experience with patient placement, financial counseling, Main Admitting, Emergency Department, preferred. Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific competency assessment, preferred.
+ Licensure/Certification: Novant Health revenue cycle university program completed, preferred. Related leadership level professional organization certification including but not limited to NAHAM CHAM, preferred.
+ Additional Skills (required): Insurance, billing and related regulatory/governing standards, policies, and procedures; ability to use Microsoft Office, registration software, and various other computer applications; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; ability to develop learning plans, give and receive feedback, and coach and counsel staff; staffing, scheduling; customer feedback and impact on core processes; delegation, team building, decision making, conflict management, change management skills; verbal and written communication skills that are sensitive to diversities among age groups, cultures, and educational levels. Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed. Ability to lead a group and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. Scheduling and organization of assigned shift. Identify continuous improvement opportunities throughout the department and individuals within the department.
