Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day. 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start/end times. During the height of the season, the workers may work up to 54 hours per week, consisting of 9 hours per day Monday through Saturday. During the remainder of the season, the required work week is 40 hours, consisting of 8 hours per day Monday through Friday.
Workers may be offered less work or be requested to work more hours on any given day, depending upon crop or weather conditions and/or market demand. Employer may request, but not require, that workers work more than the stated daily hours, including to work as much as twelve (12) hours per day or on the Sabbath and/or on Federal holidays.

Assist production Forepersons in operations leading crews, distributing and monitoring work required to produce and distribute plant material in a wholesale nursery operation. Lead proper planting, growing, maintaining, and harvesting of Bare Root plant material. Lead grading and distribution of bare root plant material. Assist Foreperson with propagation, growing and distribution of seedlings and young liner material. Lead potting and irrigation crews. Lead the maintenance and distribution of containerized plant material. Assure accurate and timely shipments of nursery products, working with Shipping Foreperson and Sales, Inventory and Central Dispatch organizing and distributing the necessary paperwork. Support Shipping Foreperson with direction of order pulling crews, loading crews, and tagging crews. Monitor safety practices. Fill in with general labor when needed. Assist with time keeping and work schedule maintenance. Maintain records to measure productivity and help ensure processes are maintained. Train new and existing employees to maintain maximum productivity and safety. Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that structures are operating efficiently.
Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application.
Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs.
Workers must kneel, crouch, bend, reach, and lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds in the course of performing required activities.
Work is performed in environmentally controlled structures and open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal field environment. Temperatures can range from 20 degrees F to over 100 degrees F during the period of employment.
This work may entail exposure to plant pollens, ragweed, goldenrod, insects and noxious plants, and to fields and plant materials which have been treated with insect and/or disease control sprays. The employer will comply with all worker protection standards and re-entry restrictions applicable to pesticides and other chemicals used in the fields. Workers are also required to comply with all applicable worker protection standards and re-entry times. Workers must be able to perform the required work with or without reasonable accommodations.

### Minimum Education Required
No High School Diploma or GED required.
### Minimum Experience Required
This position requires three (3) months experience working in a wholesale nursery handling both manual and machine tasks associated with nursery production and harvest activities; OR documentation of equivalent of educational/vocational training in horticulture or agriculture.
Must possess ability to understand verbal and/or written work instructions.
Must possess the ability to recognize species and varieties of nursery stock and the ability to determine grades and quantities for selecting trees, shrubs, and perennials.
May drive other Nursery Workers from employer designated meeting point to designated worksites within the area of intended employment using a 15-passenger van and Bailey vehicles (Ford F150, SUV).

### Job Benefits
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.
Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
